Reference projects of br AG: Bioenergy sector

Our today's Reference project of bartolome röder AG, which we would like to present to you as an example, includes the introduction of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 in the Bioenergy sector.
The company, which operates large biogas plants, employs around 50 people, 10 of whom are Dynamics NAV users.

With Dynamics NAV, an ERP system was introduced into the company for the first time after the daily business processes made this necessary, as manual processing was no longer economical and manageable. The objective before the start of the project was to develop an industry solution for the biogas plant sector for the standardized and automated handling of purchasing and billing processes.

Challenge

The challenge in this project lay on the one hand in the special features of the billing system, as the liabilities arise in the course of a credit note procedure and the supplier does not usually issue a direct invoice for goods deliveries. On the other hand, pricing is influenced by many external factors, which had to be visible and changeable across the process chain.

The highlights of the project

The following are examples of the Highlights of the project be presented.

The Management of harvest contracts with substrate suppliers enables the automated dispatch of letters for the annual survey of cultivation areas.

In the area of mapping and Management of parcels of land Google Maps provides a visualization on Google Earth, which is an important aid for employees when planning operations and harvesting to optimize routes.

In addition, a Harvest BANF system which enables the management of harvest contracts with farmers. For example, it is possible to record which fruit the farmer provides, in what volume and at what price.
Based on laboratory samples taken from incoming deliveries, the quality can be determined and thus markups or markdowns can be generated on the base price in Dynamics NAV.

Another feature is the Harvest campaign planning represent. For example, the period in which the harvest is to take place is determined at an early stage. If we take the example of "grass harvesting" and the period 01.04.-30.04., the grass harvesting campaign is planned with specified farmers. An automatic letter can then be sent from Dynamics NAV to the farmers concerned to request the area. The BANFs can be retrieved from the existing contracts with the farmers. It is immediately apparent which farmers are eligible. The BANFs serve as a planning object. The quantity can then be planned on the basis of the BANF, e.g. 2 hectares of grass with the corresponding planned quantity listed. This is stored completely in NAV.
Various Harvesting servicesThe services that are required can be planned and created as parts lists. Orders are automatically generated from NAV based on these service plans. From the Material planning The material orders are generated by the farmers.

Another highlight of the project was the implementation of a generic interface for the import of weighing data from weighing systems. In this way, deliveries from farmers or service providers are recorded and the weighings can be imported into a weighing log sheet in Dynamics NAV. A weighing can be automatically assigned to an order via a reference number. The laboratory samples mentioned earlier are also linked to these reference numbers. The external laboratory database is linked to Dynamics NAV so that values can be assigned directly.

Realization of the project

The project was realized within a timeframe of five months. Dynamics NAV was implemented as a prototype using an iterative approach and the required functions were gradually added.
