
As part of the 1st release wave 2020 of its business applications, Microsoft has again released some improvements and new functions for Dynamics Business Central.
The new features include improvements in the application area, optimization of the Modern Client, modern developer tools, the integration of Business Central with Common Data Service and simplified migration to Business Central Online.
Officially, Dynamics Business Central 2020 Release Wave-1 as of April 1, 2020 are available.

Application improvements
- Extensions to the ListPlus pages
- Different languages are provided as apps
- Recurring sales and purchase lines can be inserted automatically
- Improved layout for customer and supplier documents
- Manage direct debit collections in Service Management
- Notify the requestor of any changes to an approval request
- With the action Attach as PDF document printouts for the infobox Attachments add
- Warehouse management: The quantity of ordered items can be exceeded in accordance with an incoming surplus policy
- Capacity in the counting unit Seconds register
- Invoice quantities from original orders can be easily corrected by canceling invoices created from them
- The page Bank account reconciliation provides more space for data and enables a better overview and understanding of the bank statement items and the associated bank items
Modern Client
In the first release wave of 2020, the focus was on optimizing the desktop environment for browsers and apps.
The page layout for extended screens, on which additional content is displayed, offers more print-related functions.
The loading time for complex pages has also been improved.
Usability for advanced users has been optimized so that screen space can be managed more effectively and the user interface can be better customized without having to rewrite the code.
Modern developer tools
In addition to the complete transition to Visual Studio Code, the focus here was on increasing productivity for developers. Among other things, the debugging and debugging environment has been improved. Performance when working on multiple and large projects has been increased and user-friendliness has been further optimized.
Integration of Business Central with Common Data Service
The connection option via the Common Data Services has been added. This makes it possible, for example, to assign a Dynamics Business Central client to a business unit. In addition, the expandability and connection of additional logic and data is simplified.
