ZUGFeRD Interface - AddOn for Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Dynamics 365 Business Central 

ZUGFeRD (Zentral User Guide of the Forums electronic Rcalculation DGermany) this means standardized data format for electronic invoice exchange between companies and public authorities. This means that all those who work with federal, state and sub-central public clients will sooner or later be confronted with electronic invoicing and should look for suitable implementation options. With our ZUGFeRD interfacewhich will also be available for Dynamics 365 Business Central in the future, we enable you to connect to your Dynamics NAV or Business Central system.

A ZUGFeRD document has a hybrid structure consists of two components:

  1. PDF document for manual processing or for checking.
  2. Embedded XML invoice filewhich can be processed automatically.

By exporting an invoice from Dynamics NAV in ZUGFeRD format, a corresponding XML file is embedded in the document, which is available as a PDF file. This means that the document also contains a machine-readable form. Outgoing invoices can be sent completely electronically, regardless of whether the recipient uses ZUGFeRD or not.

When receiving invoices, you no longer have to scan the documents and OCR text recognition is no longer necessary. The receipt received via e-mail inbox or via a monitored folder is automatically read directly into Dynamics NAV.

ZUGFeRD is already being used by many German authorities and companies, so it could soon become the standard. The highest federal authorities also recommend ZUGFeRD for local authorities.

We show you the most important developments of ZUGFeRD and upcoming legal deadlines:

► 25.06.2014: ZUGFeRD version 1.0, including a comprehensive specification, will be made available free of charge to all interested authorities and companies.

► 27.11.2018: The supreme federal authoritiesi.e. the federal ministries and constitutional bodies, are obliged to guarantee the electronic receipt of invoices.

► planned for March 2019: The ZUGFeRD 2.0 version is to be made available for download, which will fulfill all the requirements of the EU directive.

► 27.11.2019: The above-mentioned commitment now also follows for downstream authorities at federal level.

► 27.11.2020: For all suppliers to the federal government the obligation to transmit invoices in electronic form applies.

IMPORTANT: The federal states must also have implemented the requirements of the EU directive by April 2020. Although these obligations ostensibly only apply to public procurement, other economic operators also have a duty: all those who work with federal, state and sub-central contracting authorities will sooner or later be confronted with electronic invoicing and will have to look for suitable implementation options.
