The spring version of Business Central (BC20) was released at the beginning of April.
As in previous versions, the focus of the new functions and improvements has been placed on further increasing productivity, optimizing the application and making it more user-friendly.
We present some of the highlights of the new release here.
Application
With the current version of BC, Microsoft provides a native Shopify connector. Thanks to this seamless connection between BC and Shopify, orders, stock levels and customer information can be easily synchronized. This allows orders to be processed faster and customers to be served better.
From now on, projects with different billing and delivery addresses supported. On the page Projects the field groups Sale to and Delivery to added.
The financial and supply chain functions have also been improved. For example, the accidental deletion of G/L accounts can be blocked via a special check.
Improved integration of Microsoft Excel, Teams and Outlook
The interaction between Business Central and other Microsoft 365 applications has been improved. As with the Word layout for reports, Excel is now also available for designing report layouts, including charts, tables and pivots.
The integration of Microsoft Teams will also be further improved, for example Business Central pages can be integrated into a Teams channel.
And the Outlook add-in now offers the option of adding attachments from e-mail attachments to Business Central documents.
Administration
Wave 1 2022 provides a whole range of administration and governance functions to help set up, secure, manage, control and monitor customer environments. This simplifies the administration of clients and the management of licenses. The new authorization system functions make it possible to set up hierarchical authorization sets.
Onboarding
With each new release, Microsoft also improves the onboarding process for new users so that they can start using their ERP solution productively much faster. A new, modern help area with context-sensitive links and guided tours provide support when getting started.
