Digitalization and sustainability

Companies need better data on their CO2 emissions

Only 16% of all German companies currently have a detailed database of their CO2 emissions. This is despite the fact that a clear majority of German companies would like to become climate-neutral in the coming years. Accordingly, 65% of companies in Germany are planning to achieve corresponding climate targets by 2035 and 82% by 2045. This was the result of a Investigation by Microsoft Germany on the state of sustainability in German companies.

However, a sound data base and knowledge of your own emissions can help you to develop and implement successful reduction measures. Support is also available from the Microsoft Sustainability Check.

Digitalization is an important lever for climate protection

Digitalization in particular plays an important role in achieving the climate targets. Calculations by the industry association Bitkom and the management consultancy Accenture According to the study, between 23% and 34% of the CO2 savings required by the German government by 2030 could be achieved by supporting digital tools. Switching to electronic receipts can also make a contribution here.

According to a Study by the Öko-Institut Freiburg the use of e-invoices alone could save 100,000 tons of CO2 per year in Germany.

With ZUGFeRD Interface for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central/ NAV, invoice exchange can be completely paperless. You no longer need to print your invoices or send them by post. Scanning the documents and OCR text recognition are no longer necessary.

This not only saves you time and money compared to paper mailings, but also makes an important contribution to reducing CO2 emissions.
