Despite the exponential growth of online retail, the German retail sector is still defying this development with some vehemence. The only question is: how much longer can this continue?
Retailers would do well not only to address the topic of multi-channel, but also to develop sustainable solutions. Otherwise they could be in for a rude awakening at some point.
(cf. t3n: "Germans love their supermarket: Why retailers are defying online competition„)
Tendencies are recognizable in some cases: Although the drugstore giant Müller from the Swabian town of Ulm has been offering its product range, or at least parts of it, online for some time, although it has almost defiantly resisted the idea of an online store for years.
However, solutions will have to be found in the future, especially for smaller retailers. BR-AG has developed a product that can help to close this gap. More on this exciting topic in the next issue of our newsletter.
