We would like to introduce you to a very useful feature for Dynamics Business Central - print jobs directly from the Business Central Web Client. Our add-on partner ForNAV has been offering the Direct Print feature since ForNAV version 6.2.
From the Business Central Web Client, print jobs can be sent from any device type to any printer in the network. It does not matter whether it is a ForNAV, RDLC or Word report.
The advantage is that no user interaction is required. In addition, background printing is possible without user interfaces such as NAS, API, scanners and web stores.
The most important properties of this feature are summarized below:
- for ForNAV, RDLC and Word reports
- uses the standard Business Central functions (Printer Selections and Printer Management)
- All types of devices with Business Central (Windows, tablets, smartphones, etc.) are supported
- Suitable for all network printers that are visible to or directly connected to the print server
- Background printing possible without UI (NAS, API, scanner, web stores and more)
- ForNAV Direct Printer functions, such as paper tray, duplex, paper source and more
- Load balancing feature
- Secure environment - printing remains within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Microsoft Azure; no print jobs or documents are sent to external servers or services
- Available for on-prem from Business Central 18 and higher, as well as for Cloud
The feature is available for all ForNAV licenses. As it is part of the ForNAV license, there are no additional costs for ForNAV customers. New customers must purchase a ForNAV license.
