"Performance feedback on projects" in Dynamics 365 BC - Part 3: Invoicing

In our series "Performance feedback on projects" in Dynamics 365 Business Central we have already shown you how to create projects and confirm hours via timesheets. Today, we would like to focus on the Invoicing of projects in more detail.
Once the activities have been approved in the timesheets, they can be posted in the project book sheet.
To do this, we go to Business Central under "Projects" in the "Tasks" area and select "Project book sheets". There we select "Suggest lines based on timesheets..." in the upper menu area. A window opens in which we can now select the start date and the end date of the posting period.
We select the start date 01.07.2020 and the end date 31.07.2020 for the billing period "July 2020".

All lines of the timesheets approved during this period will then appear.
These can now be checked again before the booking process and edited if necessary. For example, the description text can be adjusted.

Then click on "Post" and all existing lines are posted to the respective project.

Now we can call up the project overview as a list view under "Projects". By filtering for "Quantity to be transferred to invoice", we can now see all projects that have a quantity to be invoiced.

We now select the project to be invoiced and click on "Project task lines". In the project, we can now select the menu item "Create sales invoice" under "Actions". A window opens in which we maintain the "Posting date", the "Project task number" to be invoiced or the entire "Project" and the "Service period filter". After confirming with "OK", the outgoing invoice is generated.

This can now be found under "Sales & Marketing" in the "Archive" under "Sales invoices issued" and can be printed, sent manually or by email at the touch of a button.
