Lifecycle of Dynamics NAV and BC Microsoft

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central follows either the Modern Lifecycle Policy (for cloud and current on-prem versions) or the Fixed Lifecycle Policy (for older on-prem versions and NAV), depending on how it is deployed.

This means that anyone planning, migrating or restarting today should know the exact support periods for their version. Below you will find an overview of all current releases of Business Central and the support periods for Dynamics NAV. This allows you to see at a glance which version will receive updates and security patches by when - and when a change is due at the latest.

Each version is supported for a total of 18 months - 6 months with new functions and then 6 months with security and bug fixes. Fixed Lifecycle Policy

The October '18 and April '19 versions of Dynamics 365 Business Central (On-Premises) are still subject to the so-called Fixed Lifecycle Policy.

In contrast to the modern policy, fixed support periods apply here. Microsoft offers five years of mainstream support for these versions with updates and new functions, followed by a further five years of extended support with security-related updates. Companies that are still working with these versions should plan to upgrade in order to continue to benefit from further developments and comprehensive support in the future.

On this basis, we will advise you on whether an upgrade is necessary, when the best time would be and what specific steps are required.

Whether modern lifecycle or fixed policy - we ensure that your solution is modernized in good time, remains supported and can be operated securely in the long term. We not only take care of the technical implementation, but also provide you with strategic support during the changeover.
