Many acquisitions and pitches pit Dynamics NAV against Business One from SAP. We show you the most important differences to help you make a decision.
SAP Business One versus Microsoft Dynamics NAV
Let us first look at the database and its possibilities:
- SQL 2014 is a proven and fully validated data platform, while SAP HANA is not yet considered sufficiently validated in terms of its performance.
- SQL Server is the only database that is suitable for in-memory processing specifically for online transaction processes. This makes SQL 2014 the best choice for online retailers.
The other points concern program functionalities, roll-out scenarios (these are taken from a project calculation as an example) and license price:
- Dynamics NAV is an open system with delivery of the source code and opens up the possibility of making adjustments with your own personnel. Business One, on the other hand, is a closed system with encrypted source code that can only be changed by a system house.
- Dynamics NAV has full integration with standard business tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, etc., which can only be connected to Business One via interfaces.
- Dynamics NAV can be accessed on any device as standard (laptop, tablet, smart phone) and already meets the increasing mobility requirements in business processes.
Business One, on the other hand, can only be operated on a laptop/PC in the standard version. - Dynamics NAV offers full usability on rich client, browser and mobile, whereas
Business One only supports the Rich Client. - Dynamics NAV is available in 42 language versions, while only 27 language versions are available for Business One.
- Dynamics NAV offers automated processing of account statements with clearing of open items (benchmark: 3,500 clearings per day with a hit rate of over 93%). In Business One, the account statements have to be read in manually.
- Dynamics NAV includes an integrated project system, which is not available as standard in Business One.
- Dynamics NAV enables flexible access at any point in a process chain and thus offers maximum flexibility, whereas with Business One, access is only possible at the beginning of the process chain and is hardly flexible at all.
- Benchmark Template Build: Dynamics NAV - 2 months. Business One - 3 to 6 months (comparative figures from a project calculation).
- Benchmark rollout: Dynamics NAV - 6 weeks, Business One - 12 weeks (comparative figures from a project calculation).
- Price comparison (list prices): Dynamics NAV Perpetual license model - Full User 2.250,- €, Limited User 450,- €. Business One Standard Price - Full User 2.500,- €, Limited User 1.250,- €
- Hosting option: Dynamics NAV can be hosted on the Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
Business One: SAP does not offer an infrastructure for hosting.
