You may be aware of the problem that your product range cannot be adequately structured because there are not enough fields available for the individual product attributes.

If you want a better structure for your product range, we have the solution for you. With the new features introduced in Microsoft NAV 2017 Article attributes you can classify the article master according to your criteria. This allows you to map different properties, such as dimensions or material properties, in a user-friendly way. This concept is now available as standard in NAV 2017. The attributes can be created and used individually for different areas of the company according to customer requirements. Even multiple assignments are no longer a problem. This makes it easier to enter articles and add articles to existing orders and sales orders.

In this context, the introduction of the Article categories with one main level and several hierarchy levels are new in NAV 2017. With these, you have the option of implementing a hierarchical assignment of articles according to freely selectable categories. This can be used in retail, for example, to derive different articles from a specific model.

The example of a shoe retailer who sells a particular shoe model illustrates this clearly. He sells it in the colors black and brown. Here, the "color" can be stored as a category. The retailer sells the model not only in the two colors, but also in different sizes, e.g. 42, 43, 44, 45 and 46. He can also store this as the "Size" category in the article master.

In summary, the Advantage of article attributes and categories clearly in the clarity and transparency of the articles. You also have the option of evaluating your product range according to predefined attributes and categories.

In our example, the shoe retailer can evaluate the overall sales figures of the named model, see which color achieved which sales and which size was sold the most.

Another advantage of attributes and categories is the search and filter function. There are also other possible uses for categories in NAV 2017.

NAV 2017 provides a visually appealing display of the product range, Article with matching article images to provide. In the new NAV version, these illustrations can be displayed in different sizes and thus offer a particularly clear presentation, comparable to the view of a web store. Several graphics can be saved under an article master. In addition, a view is possible in which the image is displayed directly for the item. This makes it easier to search for specific items and can save a lot of time.

Would you like to find out more?
