QR-bill becomes mandatory in Switzerland

In Switzerland, the payment slip will be a thing of the past: the QR-bill will be mandatory from October 2022.

The QR-bill with a printed QR code with a Swiss cross is intended to modernize Swiss payment transactions.

This includes the digital inner workings, which are designed to enable end-to-end digital processing and integration into existing processes.

Just like the previous payment slip, the QR-bill is divided into two parts - a receipt and a payment part. The Swiss QR Code contains all the relevant information required for both invoicing and payment. Thanks to the perforation, the payment part and the receipt can be separated from the invoice and paid in at the post office as before - or sent to the bank by post with a payment order.

The parallel phase of the old payment slips and the QR-bill will expire in fall 2022, when payments with orange and red payment slips will no longer be possible. The QR-bill can already be used from mid-2020, provided the software and processes have been converted.
